Missing the Rain |
Aside from my family and other loved ones, I miss the rain most. It never rains here in Los Angeles. In Texas, it could rain at any time -- and the rainy season -- BIG HUGE THUNDERSTORMS with loud bangs and bright flashes of lightening. The SoCal skies have been teasing me with the look of rain for the past few days. Will it ever? At last night's HOA meeting, they spoke of how February and March are the rainy season here in LA. Yah, right. It sprinkles for three minutes and people here freak out. The weatherman points his camera outside as if hurrican Ivan had crossed the Colorado and was headed this way. I would settle for that about now.
There's something really awesome and powerful about a thunderstorm. Bursts of cold air from deep purple skies and low rumbles of thunder from near and far. It's cleansing and renewing. If it rains here in the next week, I'll go stand in it for a while. Hope it's not during business hours.

yeah. ditto bro. LA people are such pussies when it comes to moisture... you'd think that the rain would make all the temporary highlights in their hair run or sumthin.
I miss the good'ole monsoons from the tropics... stuff that brings 10-foot floods to the city and reliably gets the first week of school cancelled every year. I wonder why they just never figured to start school a month later... 'Cleansing' doesn't even begin to describe the experience. try 'Biblical. -- antonio
A long time ago when I was a mere child of 19, I went to Las Vegas and lived with some friends for 4 months. I remember the day that it did "Rain" a teeny bit. We were living in an apartment and when the rain started all of the people in the apartment rain outside and just stared at it...almost did a voo-doo dance! I was told that they were just in a trance by the rain. Course I knew it was awfully dry out there, because I shed at least 2 layers of skin like a snake does and everytime I blew my nose it bled...For once in my life I missed the 100% humidity that I always griped about and the Texas Gulf Coast.
