Dead Body Without Casket |
I saw my first dead body last night on a late-night bike trip to the Golden Rule store at the corner of SMB&Genesee. I saw this police tape on the east side of the street in a mostly-deserted parking lot. There was a lifeless, tattooed man laying on the concrete and these people in uniforms wearing gloves standing above him. I didn't stop, and continued into the store to make my purchase. I asked the clerk (right) what had happened.
"Somebody died. Happens all the time," he said, presenting my change. "Happens every second."I didn't ask for further details. By the time i hopped back on the bike to head home, the coronor had begun to wrap the man's body in plastic. Maybe it was a really cheap body bag. But it's not like the dead guy could help them get himself in there, so they were basically pushing his body around on the concrete to make the bag fit around him.
Is that a person in that bag?" I heard from behind me. Another passerby had taken pause by my bike and the fire hydrant. "Yes, that would be a person," i said. Just then this hot guy in a cowboy hat crossed the street toward the police tape and walked into a little apt. unit that overlooked the "scene." He knocked on the door and another person wearing a cowboy hat let him in. "I bet they know what happened," I told the stranger behind me.

Anyhow, this morning i got on my bike and took a photo of where the body was. I didn't see any other evidence that shed any light on his last moments.
It didn't make the news, either.
No helicopters. No C.O.P.S.
It's dark again. I think i am gonna go for a bike ride. Wave at me if you see me strolling by.

I don't know what's more disturbing: the dead body, or you riding your bike two blocks to Golden Rule...
